Coffee-pot with subtle reeding on the surface, painted with a blue underglaze “everlasting flower” pattern. The first coffee-pots produced in Bohemia were pear-shaped and featured shallow reeding. This form is based on the Baroque style and came to Bohemia from Thuringia. Originally from Meissen, the cobalt-painted “everlasting flower” pattern had proliferated throughout the region by the late-eighteenth century. The pot and the entire coffee-service testify to the growing popularity of coffee, which became a fashionable beverage among the eighteenth-century middle class.
